Greetings!
Welcome to the first ‘What’s New @ StoryWeaver’ Newsletter. There’s been so much exciting stuff happening around the ‘Weaverdesks of late, we’re just busting to tell you all about it.
On The Interwebs
We’ve been busy on the Net recetly, setting up a new StoryWeaver website @ http://www.storyweaver.com, where you can check out our catalogue of games, ask a rules or game related question to the StoryWeavers - who will do their best to answer it and add it to our ever growing FAQ - and check out what we are doing in the Social Media arena. That’s right. We’ve branched out into Facebook and Twitter. Catch our StoryWeaver Games Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/groups/132184793524436/) or catch us on Twitter @ #StoryWeaverRPG to get the quick lowdown on whats new. We hope you’ll catch up with us there, and tell us what you think of our games, and regale us with stories of the fun times you’ve had playing them.
Yeah, you bet we wanna know!
Freebee Free-For-All
We know you love a freebee, and we love to make ‘em for you. Out about the time you get this newsletter will be Rapture: The End of Days, Sci-Fi Soundscapes 2: Save Our Souls! Here you’ll get to sample some audio clues from NDE1: Destiny’s Children, and a never before released Soundscape. That’s right, SOS messages galore, and a creeped-up background track for you to slot into your own Rapture extravaganza, or any other Sci-fi game you are planning.
Also, keep an eye out for Soundscapes 3, another free sound file offering that is not too far away, either.
Near Death Experience 02: Transit to Perdition
We had a great response to Near Death Experience 01: Destiny’s Children, a creepy tale of science gone astray, and a biological (read: bio-hazard) disaster on board a secret Happy Cat Industries Research Orbital, so we’ve got a new 'outing with terror' for you this month. NDE2: Transit to Perdition plunges a hapless freighter crew (full of your players’ Heroes) into a highly classified transport job for MentAI, a corp that specialises in building and programing Artificial Intelligences. They have a Research Outpost set up on a quarantined world - which they say is safe - and they need those goods delivered ASAP. Dodging space pirates and deadly atmospheric anomalies, the Heroes will be faced with the disturbing science team based on the planet Perdition, and will likely discover why such important researchers are ‘hanging out’ on such a damaged world. There is a secret history to uncover, multiple terrifying foes to face, and a threat not only to any and all persons daring to set foot on Perdition, but to the whole of the Confucius star system, and beyond!
This is a transmedia adventure, over 65MB of content, including: audio - 5 carefully crafted soundscapes to play during the game, as well as audio cues to really get your players ‘in the right mood’ for terror, and a 50 page pdf outlining everything you need to adventure on Perdition, as well as maps of the starships and base involved, security badges, and transcripts of all the audio clues, if you don’t have a convenient mp3 player. Hell, we’ve even thrown in a MentAI desktop background, with or without blood splatter, to suit your tastes!
This adventure normally retails for $7.50, but for a limited time, through this newsletter you can get this top-shelf title for just $5.50! What could go wrong?
Talking Talent
Seeing as we haven’t said much about our creative team, here’s the 140 characters-or-less rundown.
Joe Sweeney - Grand Master StoryWeaver. The guy who started it all, Joe has loved gaming since right back at the beginning... DnD 1st Ed. Loving games, he’s been writing them for years, and recently felt that they needed to be shared and enjoyed by all. The result - StoryWeaver. Master of maps, audio, game design and creepy scenes.
Ray Duell - Señor StoryWeaver. A gamer for life, and given the joyous job of editing Joe’s brilliance, Ray wants all StoryWeaver products to go out the door 100% perfect. However, as he himself is an imperfect being, he does the best he can. Now in digital print with his own Adventure (Transit to Perdition - above), Ray is looking forward to more crazy adventures with the StoryWeaver team.
Cindy Wang - Atmosphere StoryWeaver. Cindy has been with the team several months, and has already wowed us with her atmospheric descriptions, and creepy, tension-filled tales, one of which will be gracing the pages of a new product in a few months. Cindy is busy studying writing at university presently, but we hope she will be back to make us shiver with her terrific prose soon.
Alex Collins - Young Buck StoryWeaver. Multiple winner of NaNoWriMo, keen editor and storycrafter, Alex has recently been introduced to both RPG’s and StoryWeaver. It’s hard to tell which he likes better, but we are sure he loves both dearly, and we look forward to good things from him in the near future.
We have more exciting news about additions to the creative team, so keep an eye out for the next issue of What’s New @ StoryWeaver for more bios!
In The Pipeline
We’ve got lots of great new content close to ready, and in planning and production for you to experience and enjoy. Keep an eye out in the next few months for new Savage World products, and more gripping fearfests for Rapture:The End of Days, and a variation on Rapture that will have the secular folks sitting up and taking notice!
For now, we hope you enjoy our games as much as we enjoy making them for you.
Game on!
